Ignacio church to celebrate fiesta

St. Ignatius Church, 15449 Colorado Highway 172 in Ignacio, will celebrate 112 years of the San Ignacio Fiesta on Sunday.

Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Afterward, there will be dinner, music by “Leon Musical,” bingo, a cake walk and a bazaar. The annual raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m.

Har Shalom announces events

The Congregation Har Shalom, 2537 County Road 203, will host these events:

A Shabbat morning service with Eli Herb will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, in the synagogue.

An observance of Tisha B’Av will be held from 9 to 10 p.m. today. Tisha B’Av is, traditionally, the somber marking of the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. This will be a ceremony of grieving and hope. The ceremony will commemorate the destruction of temples both ancient and modern, architectural, natural and human while finding comfort and hope.

“Jewish Pluralism in the Four Corners” will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday. This will be a community discussion about the nature of Jewish diversity facilitated by rabbinical student Eli Herb.
