The Claudia Kanne cleanup campaign is official. Kanne, who spent a weekend last month picking up trash along County Road 210, has adopted the road.

La Plata County has installed signs at either end of the five-mile road – Centennial Plaza and its intersection with County Road 141 – announcing the adoption and crediting Kanne.

Kanne now patrols the road once a day to pick up discarded cans, bottles, fast-food containers and cigarette packages.

The county Road and Bridge Department coordinates volunteer cleanup of roads. About 60 roads or sections of roads have been adopted.

Kanne, a resident of the Rafter J subdivision, recently had a cameo role in “The Lone Ranger” starring Johnny Depp.
