Health-care legislation presentation to be held
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn, “Health Care in Colorado: How recent legislative mandates impact your business” at noon Aug. 22 at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.
The cost is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Richard Betts will provide an update about health-care reform and its legislative mandates, provide an outline of how businesses are affected, review tax benefits currently available and provide resources on how to stay informed.

Creature Comforts to host free event
Creature Comforts will celebrate its 28th anniversary with a free event from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at 305 South Camino del Rio.
Four Corners Broadcasting will have a live radio remote with drawings, door prizes, food and more. The La Plata County Humane Society, Annie’s Orphans, D’Snip Spay & Neuter and Cat Care TNR of Southwest Colorado will have booths with dogs and cats available for adoption.
Creature Comfort is partnering with Serious Texas Bar-B-Q and Zuberfizz to raise money for the animal rescues by selling Texas Tacos and bottles of Zuberfizz at the event.
Customers also will be able to donate their change by rounding up at the register. More than 20 pet-food vendors and pet experts will be available to answer questions and give samples.

Greg Mann opens new dental care office
After 13 years of practicing dentistry in Durango, Dr. Greg Mann announces the grand opening of his new office in Three Springs with an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 201 Mercado St., east of Digs Restaurant.
Mann’s office was previously on north Main Avenue, a practice he bought in 1999 from Jay Millward. The new office features five treatment rooms, dental massage chairs, 40-inch big-screen cable TVs and HD music. The office is completely digital with digital X-rays. The practice employs three hygienists and accepts most dental insurance, dental credit cards and CARES card.
Food will be provided by Carver Brewing Co. head chef, Dave Cuntz, and a donation will be made to Hospice of Mercy. A self-guided tour of the office along with a scavenger hunt will be available. A drawing also will be held for dental care packages.
