San Pedro-Santa Rosa day to be celebrated

St. Peter-St. Rosa Catholic Church, 18851 Colorado Highway 151 in Arboles, will celebrate San Pedro-Santa Rosa Day on Aug. 19 with a Mass celebrated at 12:15 p.m. and a fellowship lunch afterward.

The main meat dish will be provided, and everyone else should bring a side dish or a baked good for a bake sale. St. Peter-St. Rosa Church was built in 1978 merging the Rosa, N.M., and Arboles churches when the original churches were torn down to make room for Navajo Reservoir.

Methodist church to begin sermon series

The First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, will start an eight-week sermon series this weekend called “Windows on the Gospel: A Study of the Denominations of Christianity.”

The Rev. Jeff Huber will share the history, theology and distinctive emphases of the eight different denominations in the Christian faith. Worship services are at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Florida Mesa to host Christian band Friday

Florida Mesa Church, 1024 County Road 230, will host a concert by the local contemporary Christian band ARISE at 7 p.m. Friday.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
