A relic rides again

Steve Stahl gives his son Rory, 6, a push down the hill at Rank Park in a soap-box car with the family dog, Ringo. Stahl built the car using Buffy-Porson plans from a book with his dad 40 years ago. I used to race it in the neighborhood against others kids who would make cars out of all kinds of things like barbecue grills, Stahl said. The car had been sitting in the garage in Denver for the past 38 years, so I brought it down and restored it, and now my son gets to drive it. Enlarge photo
