On Aug. 8, I took my children to the La Plata County Fair so they could enter their arts and crafts. They wandered through the indoor booths.
My 10-year-old son returned to me because he saw something at the booth of the La Plata County Republicans. Amid the signs for Kellie Hotter, J. Paul Brown, Scott Tipton, etc., there were rolls of toilet paper with President Barack Obama’s face on every sheet.
I looked at my son and said, “That is very disrespectful, isn’t it?”
Do local Republicans really find this humorous: wiping one’s feces and urine on the face of the president of the United States? It is not funny at all; it is disgusting and repulsive.
Local Republican candidates: Is this how you want to be represented? I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but a civil American. What are you teaching our children? That this behavior is OK?
Traditionally, the Republican party claims to support family values and Christian ideals, yet the actions of the La Plata County Republican Party contradict this. What would Jesus do?
