Police on Thursday released a physical description of a sexual predator who remains at large in Durango.
The man is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s and is described as possibly Hispanic or Native American, said Ray Shupe, spokesman with the Durango Police Department.
He is about 5 feet 6 inches tall; weighs about 150 pounds; has a medium build; and has short, dark-colored spiky hair, Shupe said.
He was last seen wearing a red Polo-type shirt with three buttons, dark nylon exercise-style workout pants, tennis shoes and was clean-shaven, Shupe said. The suspect did not appear to have any tattoos.
The man is accused of forcefully sexually assaulting a Durango woman about 5 a.m. Tuesday near west 30th Street. It is believed he entered a residence through an unlocked door or window.
Police have received reports in recent weeks of windows being tampered with in the area west of Main Avenue between 30th Street and 32nd Street.
Police are confident the incidents are related, Shupe said.
Police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity by calling 911 or the dispatch center at 385-2900.
Anyone with information about the assault or incidents of tampering is asked to call Detective Joe Farmer at 375-4732.
