Durango resident Paul Joseph Fichera died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. He was 77.
Mr. Fichera was born to S. Thomas and Mary B. Fichera, on June 26, 1935, in Philadelphia.
A restaurateur, he owned several establishments in Santa Barbara, Calif., including Philadelphia House, Open Door, Fichera’s Fine Foods and The Treehouse.
The Ficheras moved to Durango in 2005.
Mr. Fichera enjoyed relaxing, reading, “reducing his honey-do list,” and baseball, especially rooting for his favorite team, the Phillies, his family said.
Mr. Fichera is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Fichera of Durango; sons Thomas Fichera of Monterrey, Calif., and Glenn Fichera of Ojai, Calif.; sister, Connie Vaccara of Thorofare, N.J.; and four grandsons.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 21, 2012, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 1830 East Second Ave. A private family burial will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
