Sock, toothpaste drive under way in Durango

La Plata Quilters to meet Thursday

The La Plata Quilters Guild will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road. Virginia Robertson will discuss what to do with wild and large-scale fabrics. The guild invites anyone interested in quilting to visit or become a member.

Florida Grange to hold breakfast

The Florida Grange will have a free breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the grange, 656 Colorado Highway 172.

Housing facility meeting to be held

La Plata County will host an informational meeting for residents who live around the Southwest Transitions Transitional Housing Facility at 5802 County Road 203. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday upstairs in the Dalton Ranch Clubhouse, 589 County Road 252.

Southwest Transitions is a nonprofit Christian ministry that assists men and women who have been incarcerated. This apartment complex is a transitional housing facility for men on probation or parole in La Plata County. The public will be able to meet members of the board of directors of Southwest Transitions and ask questions about the program.
