A Durango man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child.
Jeffrey Dean McMahon, 51, was in possession of 2,700 images of nude and seminude teen and preteen girls on his home computer, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the Durango Police Department.
He was arrested Friday at his home in north Durango by the Durango Police Department.
McMahon was being held at the La Plata County jail on $250,000 bail, but a judge reduced bail to $10,000, which he posted Tuesday.
His arrest was the culmination of a lengthy investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and the Durango Police Department.
Police executed a search warrant several months ago at McMahon’s home. They seized his computer, cellphones and hard drives.
A preliminary analysis identified several victims not from the United States, according to a news release.
Investigators executed a second search warrant Tuesday at McMahon’s place of employment – Korn/Ferry International, a leadership and headhunting firm located at 1130 Main Ave. – to search computers he accessed.
Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call Durango police Investigator Burke Baldwin at 375-4734.
