Durango-made chocolate will make an appearance at this year’s Great American Beer Festival, but it won’t be in the form of truffles or fudge. Award-winning brewers at the festival will receive a bottle of beer brewed especially for the occasion, Westword reported.
The beer, an imperial porter called Porter’s Pride, will be brewed with 200 pounds of dark chocolate from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
Porter’s Pride will be served with different styles of doughnuts at the morning medal ceremony Oct. 12, Colorado Brewers Guild spokesman Steve Kurowski said.
The choice to partner with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory was a “pretty easy decision” for several reasons, including the fact that the chocolate has Colorado roots, Kurowski said.
While only medalists will receive bottles of Porter’s Pride, beer left over from the festival will be served at select Breckenridge Brewery locations.
