Coffee kiosk floods bank

Water-softener line breaks at Alpine

A faulty line in the coffee kiosk water softener at Alpine Bank in downtown Durango left part of the lobby flooded early Friday.

“There were a couple of inches of water on 30 percent of the lobby floor,” bank president Mike Burns said.

Burns said that a pressure surge in a water-softener line apparently popped the line off the machine.

New work stations were established for employees whose computers were affected by the water, Burns said.

“We were up and running by opening time,” Burns said. “It was business as usual.”

A professional cleaning crew removed the standing water and installed fans to dry the lobby floor.

As a safety precaution, a sign on the main bank entrance asked customers to use the side door on 11th Street.
