Beginning meditation class being offered
The Durango Dharma Center will sponsor a weekly beginning meditation class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continuing each Wednesday for five weeks through Oct. 17 at the center, 2530 Colorado Ave.
The class will be taught by Bill Ball, who has more than 20 years’ experience in meditation practice.
Congregation Har Shalom to host local events
Congregation Har Shalom, 2537 County Road 203, will host these events:
Erev Rosh Hashanah with Rabbi Eliot Baskin will take place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Rosh Hashanah First Day Services with Baskin will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
An intergenerational service will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday.
Tashlich and potluck will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Iris Park.
Rosh Hashana hike and discussion will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday on the Colorado Trail at the Junction Creek Trailhead.
Kol Nidre with Baskin will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 25.
Yom Kippur healing service, intergenerational service, Yiskor and Neila followed by communal breakfast with Baskin, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 26.

Jehovah’s Witnesses to meet in Farmington
Members of the local Durango-English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and members of Chama, Cortez, Ignacio and Pagosa Springs congregations, will attend a circuit assembly at 9:40 a.m. Sept. 22 to 23 at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington in Farmington.
The theme of the assembly, “Safeguard Your Mind,” is based on Matthew 22:37 and will be highlighted through Bible-based talks, symposiums and experiences.
The highlight of the assembly will be a public talk on Sunday, called “Keep Close in Mind Jehovah’s Day.” Admission and parking will be free, and no collections will be taken.
