Durango resident James Edward Dixon died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in Durango. He was 56.
Known as”Jim,” he was born to William George and Shirley Jane (Kinderman) Dixon on May 8, 1956, in Warren, Ohio. He graduated from Colorado Technical University in Denver with a bachelor’s degree in solar engineering.
Mr. Dixon currently was general manager of ProBuild in Durango.
He served on the board of directors for the Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado. Mr. Dixon also volunteered with Habitat For Humanity.
An avid fisherman and golfer, he enjoyed NASCAR races, “GO 24” and followed his Pittsburgh Steelers “through thick and thin,” his family said.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife, Penny Dixon, of Monument; children Shawn Dixon, Melissa White, James Dixon, Jennifer Dixon and Tabitha Dixon; and two grandchildren.
Burial took place Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, in Colorado Springs. A time of remembrance will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Durango ProBuild, 600 Sawmill Road. The gathering is co-sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado and ProBuild. Refreshments will be served.
