32nd Street cottonwood is not old, historic

Although I recognize the loss, the cottonwood tree at 32nd Street is neither old nor historic. I grew up in the neighborhood and watched the construction of the current bridge in the 1970s.

At the time, there wasn’t a tree in that spot; in fact, there were no trees of significance from 31st to the bridge.

The corridor has changed continuously over the years. Cottonwoods grow quickly.

A new landscape will be accepted history in short order.
