Lawless land? Not in Durango; we’ve got Laws

I find it ironic that a Durango woman named Laws won the Week 2 Gridiron Green.

Consider, one anonymous Rams player described the current state of (replacement) officiating affairs as such: “It’s lawless land out there.”

Well, right here in Durango, we’ve got Laws around these parts – Ann Laws.

Based on “mostly hunches and favorite teams,” the Durangoan with the online handle packerfan finished first out of 715 local Green entrants, and she finished 111th out of 177,763 national players – that’s the 99th percentile.

Take heed, NFL: Laws has returned. (Now if only the real referees would please stand up.)

Brent Jordan of Joplin, Mo., finished first overall in the national Green with 15 out of 16 picks. Laws picked 14 of 16 correctly.

And speaking of the Rams, that was the highlight of my 10-6 week. Based on the strength of my upset pick in St. Louis, the ole Guru is 18-13 overall through two weeks.

On to Week 3:
