The Durango High School boys tennis team came close but couldn’t quite get the best of Pueblo South on Thursday, losing 4-3 to the Colts in Pueblo.
Ryder Searle picked up a come-from-behind win at No. 1 singles for Durango, rallying to top Brendon Bravo 6-7 (1), 6-2, 6-4.
Garrett Crowell and Drew Downs earned another Durango victory at No. 3 doubles, topping Jake Stanton and Adam Gonzalez of Pueblo South 6-2, 6-3.
Harrison Quick and Amon Ledger earned the Demons’ third win of the afternoon by default over Michael Ramirez and Chris San Miguel at No. 4 doubles.
The Colts’ Clayton Denney bested Durango’s Aaron Cash at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Wesley Komick suffered the same fate by the same score for the Demons at No. 3 singles, losing to Alex Marck of Pueblo South.
The host Colts locked up the victory with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Mark Madic and Wendlin Burns beat Durango’s Dylan Blair and Patrick Neal 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Brian Pratt and Kyle Mondragon beat Alec Ensign and Chris Walton 6-4, 7-6 (3) at No. 2 doubles.
