Sean Mannion, Oregon State, passed for a career-high 379 yards and two TDs in a 27-20 win over No. 19 UCLA, the Beavers’ second consecutive win over a ranked opponent.

Le’Veon Bell, Michigan State, rushed for a career-high 253 yards and a TD to help the 21st-ranked Spartans avoid a major upset with a 23-7 win over Eastern Michigan.

Geno Smith, West Virginia, threw for 338 yards and had three TD passes to Tavon Austin to help the No. 8 Mountaineers outlast Maryland 31-21.

Connor Shaw, South Carolina, completed 20 consecutive passes and threw for two TDs and 252 yards as the No. 7 Gamecocks manhandled Missouri 31-10.

Stephen Morris, Miami, passed for 436 yards and two TDs to help the Hurricanes rally for a 42-36 overtime win over Georgia Tech.

Matt McGloin, Penn State, threw for a career-high 318 yards and ran for two short scores in the Nittany Lions’ 24-13 win over Temple.

John Laub, Richmond, had 223 yards and a TD passing and rushed for 73 yards and three more scores in a 35-14 win over Georgia State.

Jeff Mathews, Cornell, threw for 340 yards and three TDs in a 45-6 win over Yale.

Chuckie Looney, Marist, threw for 403 yards and hit Michael Rios on three of his four TD passes in a 34-21 win over Davidson.

Carlton Koonce, Fordham, ran for 250 yards scored two TDs in a 20-13 win over Columbia.

Zach Bauman, Northern Arizona, rushed for 253 yards and three TDs to help the Lumberjacks rally from a 17-point deficit to beat Montana 41-31, their first win over the Grizzlies in 15 tries under coach Jerome Souers.

18: Number worn on the helmets of Tulane’s players in honor of Devon Walker, who fractured his spine against Tulsa two weeks earlier. Mississippi also affixed small “DW” stickers to its helmets for the game.

Old Dominion’s Taylor Heinicke set a Division I record by passing for 730 yards in a 64-61 win over New Hampshire.

Heinicke was 55-for-79, setting school records for both, and was two completions short of the FCS record. David Klingler of Houston had the Division I record of 716 yards passing against Arizona State on Dec. 2, 1990.

Earlier this season, Sam Durley of Eureka (Ill.) College, set the NCAA single-game mark with 736 passing yards in a 62-55 win against Knox in a Division II game.

Heinicke, a sophomore from Atlanta, has thrown for 1,921 and 19 touchdowns.
