Faith based support group to meet

A new faith-based support group called “Metanoia” will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Catholic Education Center, 462 Lewis St. in Pagosa Springs.

Metanoia is a Greek word that means turning away from or going to. This is a Catholic program, but people do not need to be Catholic to attend. The program is based on an adaptation of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

The meetings are suitable for people who are dealing with self-defeating behaviors that are interfering with the quality of their lives.

The program includes scriptures that relate to the Twelve Steps. For people who are Catholic, the meetings will begin with a Catholic devotion. Group sharing and discussion will be held afterward, with writing exercises that are either completed at home or at the meeting.
