Former Durango resident Aldean Davies Prather died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in Peoria, Ariz., at the age of 90.
Mrs. Prather was born to Anna and Roy Baughman in Stonington and moved to Durango, where she met and married the love of her life, David Davies. She was widowed early in the marriage with three young children.
She moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1956 to work for the Federal Aviation Administration and later met and married Will Prather. She was widowed again in 1970 and moved to Arizona, where she lived out the rest of her life. She became a Cameo/Mary Kay associate and worked with her customers for 40 years.
Mrs. Prather lived a very full and exciting life, traveling extensively by air, auto and taking cruises with her daughters and friends, her family said. She made many friends in various countries on these many trips and communicated with many of them until her death.
Mrs. Prather was preceded in death by her husbands.
She is survived by sons Bob Davies of Phoenix, Eddie Mitchell of Georgia and Danny Mitchell of Texas; daughters Davene Kight of Glendale, Ariz., Cheryl Crews of Seattle and Terry Mitchell of Texas; a sister, Charlene Dunkel; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, with a memorial service following at Best Funeral Chapel in Peoria, Ariz..
