Free adrenal gland exams to be offered

Dr. Nancy Utter of Durango Natural Medicine will offer free exams to assess the health of adrenal glands from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

The adrenal glands manage the fight-or-flight response and are significantly affected by stress.

Free acupuncture available to veterans

The Durango Acupuncture Alliance, a group of independent, professionally licensed and nationally certified acupuncturists, will offer a donation-based veterans clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1550 Main Ave.

This free clinic will be open to veterans, active-duty military and their families.

Nominations sought for outstanding nurses

The Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center is accepting nominations for outstanding registered nurses in the Four Corners.

To nominate a registered nurse, visit www.swcahec.org, email Teri Williams at teri.williams@swcahec.org or call 903-8585. Nominees will be recognized at the regional awards dinner to be held at 5:30 p.m. March 22 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio. Six regional luminaries will be selected.

Nominations are due no later than Jan. 15. The awards recognize nurses who exemplify the profession through advocacy, innovation or leadership. Nominations should focus on one of these aspects. The essay and letters should give specific examples of how the nominee best exemplifies one of the chosen categories.
