Bush I and Clinton initiated UN takeover

What is the United Nations Agenda 21? How does it relate to Durango and La Plata County? Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of strict environmentalism, social engineering and political control that was initiated at the UN Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992.

Republican George H.W. Bush signed the Rio Accord in 1992, and Democrat Bill Clinton created the President’s Council for Sustainable Development in 1993.

Agenda 21 is now being pushed into local communities, including La Plata County and Durango, through the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives, through local “sustainable development” policies such as smart growth, wildlands project, resilient cities, regional visioning projects and other “green” or “alternative” projects.

The Agenda 21 plan of “sustainable development” views the American way of life of private property ownership, single-family homes, private car ownership and individual travel choices and privately owned farms as destructive to the environment. Please, read the document and verify yourself.

“Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class – involving high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, appliances, home and work air conditioning, and suburban housing are not sustainable,” said Maurice Strong, secretary general of the UN’s Earth Summit, 1992.

People are becoming alert to these facts, to the point that Agenda 21 advocates have had to rename things. Consider this quote from J. Gary Lawrence, a planner for the city of Seattle, and an adviser to the President’s Council for Sustainable Development: “Participating in a UN-advocated planning process would very likely bring out many?who would actively work to defeat any elected official?undertaking Local Agenda 21. So we will call our process something else, such as ‘comprehensive planning,’ ‘growth management’ or ‘smart growth.’”
