The final throws of Demons’ football

Durango High School quarterback Alex Lavenue didn’t have a whole lot of time to throw the ball downfield to the likes of Lane Joseph and the rest of his receivers during a loss to Class 5A Fruita Monument two weeks ago. The Class 4A Demons are hoping to find a little more breathing room within their offense this week against Class 3A Montezuma-Cortez. Traditional rivals in most sports but football, DHS (3-6, 1-3 Southwestern League) will wrap its season with a rare nonconference game 7 p.m. today at Montezuma-Cortez. The two programs haven’t played since the late ’90s. Enlarge photo
