DENVER – Republican Rep. Mike Coffman has won another term in the newly competitive 6th Congressional District in suburban Denver. Coffman beat Democratic state lawmaker Joe Miklosi in a tight race Tuesday. The district always has supported Republicans, but Democrats targeted it after a larger block of Hispanic voters in Aurora were added under redistricting.
Two other incumbents, Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter and freshman Republican Rep. Scott Tipton, cruised to easy victories in what were considered competitive districts.
They defeated their opponents by more than 10 points.
Republicans still hold a 4-3 edge in Colorado’s House delegation.
Democratic Reps. Jared Polis and Diana DeGette and Republicans Rep. Doug Lamborn and Cory Gardner also won re-election.
