Lecture on anxiety offered at library

Jordan Wildman and Nicola St. Mary will offer a free lecture on the mental-health aspects of anxiety, coping mechanisms, nutritional support and alternatives to medication from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

St. Mary is a naturopathic practitioner in Durango who focuses on mental-health issues. Wildman has a private practice in Durango and focuses on all aspects of mental health.

Work-site wellness program available

San Juan Basin Health Department is offering a work-site wellness program in La Plata and Archuleta counties.

The goal of the program is to reduce obesity and other cardiovascular disease risk factors among working adults. The program will provide employees with baseline health assessments, a wellness survey, and educational resources and support in adopting healthier lifestyle behaviors. Participating employers will pay a flat fee of $25 per employee.

Free acupuncture to be held for veterans

The Durango Acupuncture Alliance, a group of independent, professionally licensed and nationally certified acupuncturists, will offer a donation-based veterans clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Durango Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1550 Main Ave.

This free clinic will be open to veterans, active-duty military and their families.

Chronic sinusitis topic of Thursday talk

Advanced Allergy Relief Center of the Southwest will present “Resolving Chronic Sinusitis and Skin Conditions” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 2 of Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss how symptoms from chronic sinusitis and skin conditions can be resolved with Advanced Allergy Therapeutics.

Health department to offer last flu clinic

San Juan Basin Health Department will offer its final Wednesday Walk-in flu clinic from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at 281 Sawyer Drive in Bodo Industrial Park.

Flu shots or flu mist for children up to age 18 are $14.70. For adults, the cost is $25 for a flu shot or $40 for flu mist.

Board of Health to meet Nov. 29, Dec. 20

The next two monthly Board of Health meetings will take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 29 and Dec. 20 in San Juan Basin Health Department’s Columbine Conference Room, 281 Sawyer Drive.
