Perioperative nurses ensure patient safety

I would like to shine the spotlight on a dedicated group of professionals who serve their communities 24 hours a day. The week just past was Perioperative Nurses Week. Perioperative nurses collaborate with other health-care providers in hospital and outpatient facilities in the pre-surgical, surgical and immediate post-surgical areas.

When you are the most vulnerable, there is a registered nurse at your side every step of the way to ensure your safety, answer your questions, relieve your pain and act as your advocate.

Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses is our professional organization. It sets standards and policies to make sure you get the best surgical outcome possible. Our nursing specialty requires a unique skill set gained from dedicated training and education. Many of our operative registered nurses are tested and nationally certified in their surgical specialty. The women and men behind the masks have your best interests always at the forefront of everything they do.

My colleagues from AORN of the Four Corners are from Cortez, Farmington and Durango. We share information and education from all of our facilities. We hope you never need our professional services, but if you do, know that our care is focused on you.
