Durango resident Charles Troy Turner Jr., died after a three-year battle with cancer Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at his home. He was three weeks shy of his 70th birthday.
Mr. Turner was born to Claudia (Tucker) and Charles Turner Sr., on Nov. 25, 1942, in Manhattan, Kan.
He grew up in Arizona and spent many years in California, Colorado and Mexico. He spent 25 years in Mexico working in small towns assisting them with their medical needs from 1984 to 2009, but was always in and out of Durango until returning to live here after his cancer was diagnosed.
Mr. Turner is survived by his brother, Richard Turner Sr. of Homer, Alaska; two sons in California; four half-brothers in Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation will occur. No services are planned at this time. His ashes will be buried at Greenmount Cemetery next to his mother and brother Les Turner.
