One Durango youth hockey player has a silver stick.
Olivia Sakadinsky, a member of the Mountain States Girls Hockey League Tier II Rock Stars U14 team, helped the Rock Stars win the inaugural Western Regional Girls Silver Stick Hockey Tournament in Westminster last weekend.
The Rock Stars lost their first game before winning their next two to lock down the No. 1 seed in the final four.
They beat Team Wyoming to advance to the championship game against the Colorado Selects, where the Stars won 2-1 for the title, according to an email sent to The Durango Herald.
“Ollie” Sakadinsky, daughter of Durangoans Eric and Kim Sakadinsky, and her teammates are the Western Regional Champions and will compete in the international finals February in Ontario, Canada.
