You won’t have to wait too long for a big taste of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into the Darkness.”
Paramount Pictures will release the first nine minutes of the much-awaited film at 500 IMAX 3-D screens beginning Dec. 14, well ahead of the May 2013 release date.
It’s the first time that exclusive footage has played on IMAX 3-D screens.
“The footage is absolutely incredible,” Greg Foster, chairman and president of IMAX Filmed Entertainment, said in a statement.
The film brings back Chris Pine as young Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as a young Mr. Spock from the 2009 original. “Sherlock”’s Benedict Cumberbatch will star as the villain.
