Authorities release woman’s ID

Herald Staff Report

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office has identified a woman who was found dead Wednesday in a remote location west of Breen.

Donna Trapp, 60, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Dan Bender, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

Trapp was a resident of the Dryside and was staying with a friend in the Hay Gulch area, he said.

She was found about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday on a private driveway in the 9000 block of County Road 120.

A local real estate agent was showing the undeveloped piece of property to a Fort Collins couple when they approached an all-terrain vehicle parked in the middle of the dirt driveway. Trapp’s body was on the ground about 10 feet behind the ATV with a gun resting on her chest, said Thad Trujillo, who works with the Wells Group.

A friend reported Trapp missing before her body was found, Bender said.

No foul play is suspected.
