Bayfield library director to retire

After 35 years of employment, Donnalee Baxstrom, the director of Bayfield’s Lavenia McCoy Public Library is leaving.

Baxstrom, who earned a degree in education, started working at the library in the 1970s. Throughout her career, Baxstrom has seen the library undergo a number of changes. In 1999, Baxstrom led the charge to build a new library, which was completed in 2004. Currently, the library is in the middle of an expansion project, which is set to be finished in the early part of 2013. Baxstrom’s last day will be Jan. 31. The search for a new director has begun.

Denise Storm named president of DAAR

Denise Storm, broker associate with RE/MAX Pinnacle in Durango, was recently named president of the Durango Area Association of Realtors.

Storm previously served as vice president, chairwoman of DAAR’s Community Service and Young Professionals Committees, and a member of the Education Committee.

An advocate of continuing education, Storm’s certifications include: Accredited Buyer’s Representative, e-PRO (Internet expert), Short Sales and Foreclosure Representative, and Certified Distressed Property Expert. She’s currently pursuing a Certified Residential Specialist designation.
