I would like to congratulate President Barack Obama on his re-election, but feel the need to point out a possibly missed opportunity on his part. I know he is focused on serious issues such as the fast-approaching “fiscal cliff,” and that is as it should be. I do find fault, however, with his silence and apparent hands-off stance regarding the recent demise of Hostess. According to campaign rhetoric, the president was able to save the auto industry in his first term. I’m sure that a simple phone call or two, a few billion dollars in stimulus and perhaps just the right photo-op could save Twinkies. From my perspective, this would get his second term off to a great start and certainly would add to his legacy. Pete Harter Durango
