Durango library to host holiday music series

Durango Public Library will host a series of music hours next week featuring holiday and chamber music. At 10 a.m. Monday, Ruth Cutcher will perform classical guitar pieces. A flute ensemble from Fort Lewis College will play at 1 p.m. Tuesday; Wednesday will feature Jeff Solon and a jazz ensemble at 10 a.m.; and an FLC clarinet ensemble will conclude the week’s performances at 1 p.m. Friday.

Givon to be featured at Ignacio party

The Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center will host author Tom Givon for a holiday party from 6 to 8 p.m. today at 755 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio. Givon will introduce and sign copies of his new translation of Lao Tse’s Tao Teh Ching (Book of the Tao).

There will also be a performance by the Mataholla Moon Belly Dancers and a “Fill Your Bowl for the Arts” fundraiser with soups, stews and bread.

Choral Society to give Christmas concert

More than 100 singers from the three Durango Choral Society choirs and members of the Durango Jazz Combo will present “A Traditional Family Christmas” at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. The concert will take place during the Holiday Gala, a silent auction that will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. in neighboring Jones Hall. Margi Coxwell will perform during the auction, which is the society’s largest fundraiser of the year.
