Screamin’ ski deal?

Locals complaining about the cost of skiing at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort might be interested to know that has named it the top value ski spot in North America.

But while the world’s largest travel website calculated Durango’s TripIndex Ski Cost at $210, that includes only one night of lodging, one lift ticket, one basic ski rental package of skis, boots and poles, one meal of burger and fries and one bottle or draught domestic beer. For a true Durango experience, travelers who eat at a fine dining establishment are likely to spend more than the average $9.67 for their meal, and any microbrewery beer will come in at more than the calculated $3.42.

Other top deals are Bend, Ore.; Taos, N.M.; and Salt Lake City. Coming in at most expensive are Vail at $802 and Aspen at $717.
