Auditions for ‘Mermaid’ to be held Jan. 14-15

Merely Players and the Durango Performing Arts Company will hold auditions for a call that will then put on a performances of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 14 and 15 at the Smiley Building, Studio 5, 1309 East Third Ave.

This is a theater production class and will be taught by area professionals for students in fourth through 12th grades. The class fee is $200 for actors and $150 for tech support and includes the class, shows, all technical elements and two tickets to the show.

The show will be directed by Mona Wood-Patterson, with musical direction by Jill Langoni, choreography by Shea Costa and technical direction by Charles Ford.

Students will audition for this show by singing a song from the show, taught at the audition, and by memorizing and performing a short selection from the show.

Rehearsals will begin March 18 after school and show dates are May 3-4 and 9-11.

10-minute play contest seeking scripts

Durango Arts Center invites submission for its 2013 10-Minute Play Contest, which will culminate in a full production this fall.
