So much to love about us

Durango has made yet another “best of” list. Now, Sunset magazine, in its January edition, has chosen our mountain city as one of 18 Great Snowy Getaways.

(One among 18? For a town used to being in the top 10 it feels like being damned with faint praise, i.e., “You’re one of the 18 most beautiful women I know.” Thanks – I guess.)

Among the Durango attractions Sunset mentions are Purgatory for skiing, the ride to Cascade Canyon on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Trimble Hot Springs and the annual paean to silliness – Snowdown – scheduled Jan. 30-Feb. 3.

Durango is accustomed to being placed among the elite for one reason or another. True West Magazine named the city one of its 10 top True Western Towns of 2013 and Outside magazine named the city runner-up as Best New Adventure Hub.
