Montezuma-Cortez rallied in the second half to turn back the Bayfield High School boys basketball team 64-48 on Tuesday night in Bayfield.
The Wolverines led 30-29 after a solid first half, according to BHS head coach Bill Hesford.
“We were feeling pretty good then. But we didn’t come out ready to play in the second half,” Hesford said. “Cortez played well. They shot the ball extremely well.”
Tyler Kerr led BHS with 13 points and 13 rebounds, most coming in the first half. Geoff Pope added 11 points for the BHS boys (0-5).
Preston Hardy added eight pionts.
“We threw the ball away too many times in the second half,” Hesford said, adding that the Wolverines are eager to get back in action Thursday at the Rumble in the Jungle Tournament in Aztec.
