BHS can’t keep up

Too fast.

The Bayfield High School boys basketball team couldn’t keep up with Aztec, and the Wolverines lost their first game of the Aztec Tournament 90-79 on Thursday in Aztec, N.M.

“Aztec plays a very fast-paced game,” BHS head coach Bill Hesford said. “That had us a little bit on our heels in the first half.”

Hesford said the Wolverines recovered some after halftime but never could close to within less than six points of the Tigers.

“Turnovers hurt us,” Hesford said.

Preston Hardy scored 19 points to go with 16 rebounds and two assists for Bayfield.

Joey Webb had 17 points and eight assists.

“He had the ball in hands an awful lot (Thursday) against that pressure Aztec throws,” Hesford said.

Sophomore Dillon Hoselton had 10 points and four rebounds, as the younger player has worked into more playing time for Bayfield, Hesford said.

“The kids did a good job keeping up with the pace of the game.”
