La Boca resident Candace T. Watts died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at her home. She was 28. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Ms. Watts was born to Gregory Box and Virginia Watts on Feb. 12, 1984, in Durango. One of four children, she grew up in La Boca and attended schools in Ignacio. While in school, she was active in the volleyball program.
She went on to study computer technology in Tempe, Ariz. Ms. Watts moved to Denver in 2009 to be close to family. She was a homemaker.
An enrolled member of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, she was active in Southern Ute traditions, traveling to powwows and other ceremonies.
Ms. Watts was an avid sports fanatic of the Denver Nuggets and Oakland Raiders.
“She especially loved her nieces, nephews and cousins, sharing her patience and love with them,” her family said. “She also had a rich sense of humor, everyone enjoyed being around her, and she was known as a ‘jokester.’”
Ms. Watts is survived by her father, Gregory Box of Bayfield; brothers Craig Box of Ignacio and Loren Watts of Aurora; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held starting at 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the family home, 23146 Colorado Highway 172 in La Boca. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Southern Ute Multi-Purpose Room, 258 Ute Road in Ignacio. Burial will occur at Ouray Memorial Cemetery in Ignacio.
