The Bayfield High School girls basketball team used a balanced attack to beat Monte Vista 47-33 on Friday night.
Ten different Wolverines scored in the Intermountain League victory.
Micaela Knickerbocker, who had three baskets in the opening minutes of play, led the Wolverines with 16 points.
Destiny McGhehey added nine.
“We had good effort,” Bayfield head coach Ronnie Posey said.
“More girls are getting more and more minutes,” Posey said. “We got a lot of minutes out of our bench. I was very pleased with the effort.”
Andrea Lahoz, a foreign exchange student from Spain, “is really stepping up for us,” Posey said.
The BHS girls improved to 7-4, 1-0 in conference.
Monte Vista fell to 2-7, 0-1.
The Wolverines, who led 11-9 after the first quarter, pushed the lead to 27-14 by halftime.
The game was the first for Bayfield in the new Monte Vista High School gym.
“That is a nice facility. They have something they cane be proud of,” Posey said of the new high school at Monte Vista.
