Members of Terpis Contemporary Dance Company rehearse for their debut show Saturday at the Smiley Auditorium. The troupe was formed by Dance in the Rockies instructors Anne Gillis, Chloe Roberts, Melissa Largent, Shirley Melton and Emily Lavengood. Fellow instructor Drew Malhmood will appear Saturday as a guest performer. “We’d all danced professionally elsewhere, but there’s no high-level professional dance company here,” Roberts said. “The Concert Hall always brings in great pro companies, but we wanted to get more serious and establish a professional high-level performing company.” The debut show will feature 19 group and solo numbers choreographed by the company members spanning all varieties of dance including jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap and hip-hop. The group took its name from Terpsichore, the Greek muse of dance.
