Local consultant receives health-hero award

Jenny Wrenn was recognized as the Citizens Health Advisory Council’s outstanding health hero of 2012 at the council’s celebration Jan. 11 at Strater Hotel.

Wrenn is a consultant and grant writer. In 2011, Wrenn joined other council members in helping to develop a community clinic. A grant proposal of Wrenn’s led to the funding, which led to the clinic.

Resolving allergies presentation offered

Advanced Allergy Relief Center of the Southwest will present “Resolving Airborne Allergies and Food Sensitivities” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Program Room 2 of Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss how symptoms from airborne allergies and food sensitivities can be resolved with Advanced Allergy Therapeutics.

Two radon classes to be held at fairgrounds

Radon informational classes will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Feb. 25 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 Main Ave.

The classes are free. A limited number of test kits will be available free for people taking the class.
