Mancos resident Marilyn Gilbert died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at her home. She was 81.
Mrs. Gilbert was born to Albert and Margaret (Herrscher) Miller on Aug. 26, 1931, in Queens, N.Y.
She married Arthur Francis Gilbert on May 14, 1955, in Queens. The couple raised their two sons in Courtland, N.Y.
For more than 20 years, she was an accountant and security official for the Hudson Institute, which is a policy research think tank. She moved to Mancos in 2008.
In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and solving crossword puzzles. She was an avid fan of the television game shows “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune.”
Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Arthur Francis Gilbert.
She is survived by her sons, Paul A. Gilbert of Mesa Verde and John C. Gilbert of Mancos; and one niece.
Cremation has taken place. No local services are planned.
