A two-car crash about three miles west of Gem Village closed U.S. Highway 160 on Monday night during the evening commute.
One person was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, said Capt. Adrian Driscoll, with the Colorado State Patrol.
The person’s identity was not immediately available. The person reportedly suffered a gash to the head.
The crash occurred about 5:15 p.m. Details of the crash and the cause were not immediately available.
One vehicle was reportedly on its side, and rescue workers were trying to reach another via a technical rescue.
Monday evening’s eastbound traffic was backed up at least a half mile. Some traffic was rerouted onto County Road 223.
