Bobcats’ slow start balances itself out in victory

Balanced scoring helped the Ignacio High School girls basketball team score a 52-37 road win at Ouray on Saturday.

“It was kind of a slow start. I knew I wanted to use all the girls,” Ignacio head coach Justa Whitt said.

“I ... subbed in groups. The second crew came in and did a little better. And we were better in the second half,” Whitt said.

Mariah Vigil led the Bobcats with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Cloe Seibel added 12 points for Ignacio (8-7, 4-1 San Juan Basin League).

Michelle Simmons and Jordan Cuthair scored six points each for the Bobcats.

Simmons also had six rebounds against the Trojans (2-11, 1-5 SJBL).

Ignacio will play a nonleague game Tuesday at rival Bayfield.
