Local tourism office announces new hire

The Durango Area Tourism Office welcomes Yonna Moore as new group sales manager.

Moore brings 25 years of marketing experience with Fortune 500 companies such as Campbell Soup Co. and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals to the local tourism office. Moore holds a marketing degree from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, and has been a resident of Durango for 20 years.

Moore is active in the community through volunteer efforts and is an original “Durango Diplomat” for Durango Chamber of Commerce in 1993. Moore’s responsibilities include developing and generating activities for social, military, education, religious and fraternal groups for meetings conventions, incentives and events.

In addition to attending tradeshows and conventions, she will work closely with local tourism businesses to promote the Durango area.

Region 9 announces website redesign

The Region 9 Economic Development District has a newly designed website.

The website includes regional data, information on enterprise zone tax credits, Region 9 business loan fund and technical assistance services.

Chamber to host benefits boot camp

Durango Chamber of Commerce will host a Member Benefits Boot Camp at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 13 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Participants will learn how to use benefits to make the most of a membership investment. The event is free.

Business consultations offered for free Feb. 11

A representative from the Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center will offer free one-hour business consultations from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Women’s Resource Center, 679 East Second Ave., Suite 6.

The consultations are for women who want to start or expand their business and already have a solid idea for a business plan.

Fredrick appointed to committee post

FredrickZink & Associates PC, an accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Durango announces that Charles “Chuck” P. Fredrick has been appointed to the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section Executive Committee for 2013–14.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Fort Lewis College in business and accounting, Fredrick has been a practicing CPA since 1979. He has provided tax, audit and business consulting to a variety of businesses in the Four Corners, including construction contractors, retail and other service-oriented businesses.
