A worker burned Tuesday about midday in a flash fire at a gas-well site near Carracas Mountain in Northern New Mexico was flown to Mercy Regional Medical Center.
The victim was driven to Arboles where a Los Pinos Fire Protection District member met them and used an agency vehicle to take him to Navajo State Park, said Tom Aurnhammer, the district’s deputy chief.
A Flight for Life Colorado helicopter flew the victim from the park to the hospital.
Aurnhammer said the man was trying to light a heater that keeps equipment from freezing when a flash fire erupted.
No information about the victim or his condition was available.
