Parents with children in Durango School District 9-R schools can get out their calendars to plan child care and vacations for the 2013-2014 school year – mostly.
“Parent-teacher conferences and the early-release schedule are still being determined,” the district announced in a news release.
In one big change, the winter break has been eliminated, so students will have only one weeklong break between the end of the holiday break and the end of school in May.
In addition to standard holidays such as Labor and Memorial days, Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Day and so on, here are some key dates:
First day of school: Aug. 19
Staff development/work days: Sept. 30, Oct. 25, Jan. 27, 2014, and April 18, 2014.
Thanksgiving break: Nov. 25 through Nov. 29.
Holiday break: Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, 2014.
Spring break: March 24 through March 28, 2014.
Last day of school: May 29, 2014.
