I completely agree with the Herald story that said, “bullying is a learned behavior,” (Feb. 10). Most children are bullies toward others because they have either been bullied before or are hiding a deeper issue.
Bullying has become a bigger issue during the last few years because of incidents such as the Sandy Hook shooting and also because bullying-related suicide rates have been rising. That is why it is a great idea for the Durango School District 9-R to have an anti-bullying program. The teachers can instruct the children of their school district early that it is important to “promote a culture of excellence through a culture of engagement.”
Bullying is violence and should not be taken lightly.
