The Bobcats’ boys basketball team got defensive about their shot at revenge Friday in Cortez.
Ignacio High School (17-5, 8-2 SJBL) held Telluride to a single field goal in the second half of their San Juan Basin League Tournament semifinal to win 49-33 and reach the championship.
The Miners, discounting the Bobcats’ forfeit to Norwood, were the only team inside the conference to beat Ignacio this season.
Justin Carver had 12 rebounds and 10 points, Adison Jones had 11 rebounds and nine points, and Clayton Jefferson’s 14 points led the Bobcats, who will play No. 1 Dolores or No. 4 Ridgway at 2:30 p.m. today in Cortez for the league title.
